Set in the hills along the Eastern edge of the Serengeti Plains lie 150 acres of land that are to become the most exclusive tented eco-lodge in East Africa. Providing our guests with the ultimate in luxury accomodations while at the same time allowing them to enjoy the simplicity and stark beauty that is Africa. Setting new standards for ecological sensitivity and preservation, style and luxury in a tented lodge, and development projects with the local Maasai community, our project will define a new model for lodges across the industry.

Billions of aid dollars have been spent in Africa in an attempt to relieve the many ills that face the people who live in this magnificent land. However, after all is said and done, little true progress has been made in improving the daily lives at the individual village level when one travels out to the rural areas. There are many possible explanations, but the bottom line is that the money simply does not get far enough afield to have an effect. Gnu Holdings was formed to bring a model of investment rather than aid to better the lives of the people and communities whose lands provide such amazement to travelers from around the world. Through a model of development in concert with local communities, involving them in the process, hiring local workers, funding and incubating local businesses, and helping to provide infrastructure such as fully supported medical clinics and schools, Gnu Holdings will bring meaningful positive change to the communities where we work. Ensuring that the local people receive full value for protecting the ecosystem that has supported them for thousands of years and helping to show them how it can continue to support them in a global economy.
